Gerhard Richter

Gerhard Richter (born 1932) is a German artist known for shifting between photorealism and abstraction, exploring memory, perception, and chance. After moving from East to West Germany in 1961, he became a key figure in postwar art with works ranging from blurred photo paintings to large-scale abstractions. Today he is regarded as one of the most influential and highly valued living artists.
